Introduction:
Everybody knows that Google Adsense approval for a blog means side income from your blog by displaying third party ads. Google places these ads strategically on the blog. But for me Google Adsense is bigger than just a mere side income. I’ll come to that but first let’s find out briefly what is Google Adsense and how does it work.
Before we dive in to Google Adsense, please be aware that we are not going to discuss Google Adsense elaborately in this article. This article is about how we got Google Adsense approval and our take on the entire process and requirements.
What is Google Adsense?
Google Adsense is an advertising program lauched by Google in 2003. By participating in this program, the website owners can monitize their websites and blogs and make money by displaying third party ads on their websites.
After a website is carefully reviewed and then accepted for Google Adsense by Google places ads automatically on your site and it also make sure that the ads placed are related to your website niche.
Google Adsense Approval: How does it work?
After you apply for Google Adsense approvals, Google reviews your site to make sure it meets their parameters and follows all their policies and terms and conditions. If everything is okay, they will approve your application. Google automatically places ads on the approved sites and they make sure that the ads displayed are related to the same niche as that of the site. This increases the chances for the ads getting increasing clicks by the visitors. Google displays ad of the highest bidder (brand owner or company) for that slot on the website on that slot and charges the ad owner on the basis of Cost Per Click (CPC). They pay 55% – 65% of the revenue generated through the adsense program to the site owners.
Google Adsense approval for avariaffili8.com – The preparation
17th May 2020 is avariaffili8.com’s Happy Birthday. Even before buying the domain and hosting, Google adsense was on my mind. Not because I wanted to earn through my blog from day 1 but because I thought if my blog is accepted by Google for Adsense program then it will be an established fact that Google accepts our blog as an unique one which contains high quality, unique and informative contents. We consider adsense approval to be the landmark which should be achieved by every blog and website to make sure they are in the right path.
After doing some research we found out that there are certain pre-requisites for Google Adsense approval. Here’s what we found out and what we did –
- High quality contents – This is the most important pre-requisite as per Google. Your site should contain original, high quality contents and articles related to your blog’s or website’s niche. You will have to make sure that the contents are original, plagiarism-free and your readers find values from those. Google expects that the new websites and blogs will write contents and articles to provide valuable information and solve problems of the readers and not for Google crawlers. So make sure you write for the readers and not for the search engine.
Our preparation – So we quickly understood that to be successful in the field of blogging we will have to accept the fact that – “Content is the king”. So, even before deciding on our domain name we started writing engaging contents on our niche (digital marketing). We didn’t stop until we had at least 15 high-quality, informative niches.
- Layout and Easy Navigation – Make sure that it’s easy for the readers to move from one page to another. Also readers should be able to find what they are looking for easily. The layout of each page should be attractive along with quality graphics and colour scheme. The readers should be able to browse through the pages without any hiccups and the browsing experience should be a pleasant one.
Our preparation – We made sure that our blog’s pages are simple and all segments are easily navigable. Ours is a new site and so the number of segments and pages are much less than any other site.
The most important segment is the blog segment which contains all the articles on digital marketing. So, mainly this is the segment which keeps the readers engaged and provide them with valuable information.
The blog page lists all the articles with their featured photos and the title. Apart from that, it also contains a search segment which the readers can use to search a particular article or topic.
- Compulsory information and pages – Pages like Polices, Terms and Conditions and About Us should be there for the site for Adsense approval. This ensures that the site is authentic and followers and readers are safe to access the site.
Our preparations – The first three pages created for our new blog are- About, Policies and Terms and Conditions. We made sure that we put in all information related to our blog and people behind it. Though we have used terms and conditions generator and Policies generator to create the two pages but we made sure to include or exclude the relevant points that influence our policies.
- Site owner should be 18 years old – Building a website or a blog is pretty easy now a day. You can create one with just a few clicks on the WordPress platform. So, anyone cancreate a blog with basic computer knowledge and internet access.
Since Google Adsense involves financial attributes hence Google wants to make sure that all the website owners getting Adsense approval are adults (18+).
Our Preparations – Here we didn’t do anything. The owner of this site is 42 years old.
- Site Ownership – Google would like to be absolutely sure of the owner of the site before granting approval.
Our Preparations – While we applied for Adsense approval we had to prove to Google that we are the owners of the site. For that we didn’t have to do much. Our site was already connected to Google Analytics and Google Search Console. So when we put in the URL of our site for Adsense approval Google automatically detected us as the owners.
Thereafter, we executed the required steps for applying for the approval. Here is the details of the steps for applying for Adsense approval.
The 1st approval request and rejection
So after carefully working on all the above points and after a lot of checking and rechecking we applied for Google Adsense. After agonizing 2 weeks, Google came back to us and informed us that they rejected our application since our site violates some of the Adsense policies. Below is the screenshot of the mail from Google.
Google did not pin point the reason for the rejection. It is your duty to find out the particular reason and fix it before you reapply.
Now this is going to be a challenging job. Though there was a video link in the mail but it was not much of help. After doing some more research we came across a video playlist on the Google Adsense Youtube channel. There are a total of 6 videos and average length of each video is 5 minutes . So we decided to go through each and every video of the playlist and analyse our site contents against each video.
This strategy worked for us since we were able to find out the issue for which our site was denied approval.
Let’s discuss the issue and how we fixed it in details –
The issue – Before discussing the issue lets first explain the initial structure of our website. When the site was first built on WordPress platform, the posts were all displayed on a designated blog page.
After a few days we moved the posts to the homepage in chronological order.
Since the blog contents were moved from the Blog page to the homepage so the blog page became empty. So if someone clicked on Blog, it opened up an empty page.
This is a strict no no if you are seeking Adsense approval. There should be no blank page on your website since it creates confusion and makes navigation difficult.
Fixing the issue – Once the issue was found we immediately fixed it through the WordPress admin portal. We changed the homepage to a static page and the posts were moved to the Blog page.
The 2nd approval request and acceptance
After finding out and fixing the problem we immediately reapplied for Adsense approval. This time, again after waiting for 2 weeks, finally our application got approved.
Important tips:
In this entire process, we realised that traffic is not important for getting Google Adsense Approval. Posts and contents are the most important factors and other factors are navigation and other compulsory pages.
Conclusion:
Every website and blog should go for Google Adsense approval. Other than generating revenue this is the best way to make sure that the website or blog is accepted by Google as a good one which provides high quality contents for its followers.
